My student organization

The student organization I am involved in is Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is a non profit organization ran by volunteers of the community. Their mission is to build homes for under privileged families. I chose to be apart of this organization to not only make the community a better place but it also helps to make me a better person. I am able to be selfless and do something for someone else that will change their life. I attended a picnic/meeting to get to know all of the members and get a better understanding for their cause on the 15th of September around noon. I also attended a meeting on November 2nd at 9pm in Kamm. This meeting was about what events and build dates are coming up.. The organization is somewhat formal during meetings but there is informal gatherings to "bond."After attending both of these meetings I could tell this is something I am very interested in. What draws me to habitat is the sense of community and doing something for the greater good.

My Finances

Being a college student it has definitely changed my perspective on my finances. I no longer carry cash or my debit card with me I only use my jacket express. At this point in time I don't have a budget but I am very careful and I'm aware of how much I am spending daily. I only eat in the union once a day, either for lunch or dinner the rest of my meals I eat in my dorm with the food I have.

I think I have spent how much I planned on spending no more or less. The only unexpected costs are the vending machines that I sometimes use for a soda or candy bar occasionally. I spend the majority of my jacket on food in the union. I think I am using my jacket appropriate and I am spending just enough that I need to for food and items. I don't need to change my spending habits because I am spending money when I need to and only occasionally for when I really want something.
